چکیده
This paper demonstrates bandwidth requirement for optical DPQSK transmitter using one Dual-drive Mach Zehnder Modulator (DDMZM) for 100Gb/s physical transmission. The result shows that at receiver bandwidth of 40GHz, NRZDQPSK signal requires 60GHz modulation bandwidth at least, while RZ-DQPSK scheme demands less bandwidth, about 40GHz for 50% duty cycle RZ-DQPSK signal.

We present recent progress of high-speed Mach-Zehnder modulator technologies for advanced modulation formats. Multi-level quadrature amplitude modulation signal can be synthesized by using parallel Mach-Zehnder modulators. We can generate complicated multi-level optical signals from binary data streams, where binary modulated signals are vectorially summed in optical circuits. Frequency respons...

We present a dual traveling-wave electrode InP-based Mach-Zehnder (MZ) modulator with an n-i-n waveguide structure. An electrical input/output interface placed on one side of the chip helps us to drive the modulator in a push-pull configuration. This configuration provides the modulator with great advantages such as reduced driving voltage amplitude, chirp-free operation, and the ability to sup...

A polymer single-drive Mach-Zehnder modulator is experimentally characterized using 100-Gbit/s serial data modulation. BER of 10 is achieved for both 100-Gbit/s NRZ-OOK and NRZ-DPSK signals without optical or electrical equalization. The modulator shows a 7-dB bandwidth at 110-GHz and the chirp as low as -0.0219 GHz. © 2012 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (060.4510) Optical Communication...
متن کاملOptical single sideband signal generation relying on a single-drive Mach-Zehnder modulator for radio over fibre communications
Abstract: Optical single sideband (OSSB) signals are conventionally generated using a dual-drive Mach–Zehnder modulator (MZM) or by using a single-drive MZM in conjunction with a fibre Bragg grating filter. In this study, the authors propose and mathematically characterise a novel radio over fibre downlink in which an OSSB signal is generated using a single-drive, rather than dual-drive, MZM wi...
